RESEARCH

Current Research

Graduate Research Assistant, University of Georgia, Dr. David W. Wright, 2004-2008
My central research interests are couple rituals, relationship commitment, infidelity, and marriage. I am building on the findings from my Master’s thesis and a qualitative study I conducted about couple rituals in the fall 2006. Based on the results of these studies, I am developing and validating the Couple Rituals Scale. I am also involved with an ongoing qualitative research group and a group that studies sexual identity development. I proposed my dissertation in the spring 2007 term and am currently collecting data. This is a mixed-method study that uses symbolic interaction and evolutionary theories to explore newlyweds’ conceptions of marriage, including their perceptions of infidelity and divorce. I will graduate in May 2008.

Past Research Experience
Research Assistant, The University of British Columbia, Dr. Sheila Marshall and Dr. James Ponzetti,
2000-2001. Reviewed scholarly journal articles and composed a list of published parenting measures.
Research Assistant, The University of British Columbia, Dr. Daniel Perlman, 1998. Reviewed academic
books, chapters, and articles and composed a spreadsheet of the most commonly cited family scholars.
